Advanced GPS Upgrade Kits, Cables and Accessories

Minn Kota i-Pilot, i-Pilot Link, and Advanced GPS Navigation are trolling motor navigation systems. The main differences are Humminbird fish finder connectivity and the navigation features available on compatible motors.

i-Pilot provides GPS navigation features such as Spot-Lock GPS anchoring, speed control, and recorded trolling paths without requiring a connected fish finder.

i-Pilot Link adds connectivity to compatible Humminbird fish finders, enabling features such as Follow the Contour when used with compatible mapping.

Advanced GPS Navigation is Minn Kota’s newer navigation platform, replacing legacy i-Pilot and i-Pilot Link systems. It offers features such as Improved Spot-Lock, Drift Mode, and Dodge Mode, with Humminbird connectivity on compatible setups. Available features and upgrade options depend on the trolling motor model and equipment.

Remote compatibility is important when upgrading to Minn Kota Advanced GPS Navigation. Older i-Pilot and i-Pilot Link remotes, including the Bluetooth full-size remotes, are not compatible with Advanced GPS controllers. The Bluetooth Micro Remote (BT Micro Remote) is an exception and can be used with Advanced GPS systems. When choosing your upgrade kit, select a compatible remote option unless you already have a compatible Bluetooth Micro Remote or plan to use the One-Boat Network app. You can also pair multiple compatible remotes with the same Minn Kota Advanced GPS Navigation system, so you don’t have to choose just one remote.

These are not factory-packaged Minn Kota upgrade kits. We select and combine the components needed to add Advanced GPS Navigation features to compatible Minn Kota trolling motors. Compatibility and available features depend on your motor’s model and generation.

Yes. Certain older Minn Kota trolling motors can be upgraded to Advanced GPS Navigation with Spot-Lock GPS anchoring using a compatible upgrade kit. Match your motor’s model and year range to the linked kits below, and confirm compatibility using your motor’s serial number before ordering.

Wireless remote inclusion depends on the option you select when ordering your Minn Kota Advanced GPS upgrade kit. The heading sensor and networking cables are sold separately.

Choose the no-remote option to control your motor through the One-Boat Network app on a compatible smartphone.

The Micro Remote provides essential controls, including Spot-Lock, steering, propeller on/off, Advanced AutoPilot, and high-speed bypass. It does not control stow, deploy, or trim functions. On motors equipped with those functions, use the One-Boat Network app instead.

The full-size wireless remote provides additional controls, including Legacy AutoPilot, Boat Scale settings, iTrack recording, and saved Spot-Lock locations. You can also use the app with either remote option.

A heading sensor adds the Spot-Lock Jog feature on compatible systems. If you already have a compatible heading sensor, you may not need to purchase another. If needed, the Minn Kota heading sensor is available separately.

Networking cables for connecting your Advanced GPS system to compatible Humminbird equipment are not included in these upgrade kits. The cables you need depend on whether you’re connecting directly to a compatible Humminbird fish finder or through an Ethernet switch, as well as your existing equipment. Lakeside Marine & Service no longer sells complete Minn Kota i-Pilot or i-Pilot Link upgrade kits because they use older-generation technology and the kits we previously offered cost more than our Advanced GPS upgrade options. We now offer Advanced GPS Navigation upgrade kits for compatible Minn Kota trolling motors instead.

We still sell individual i-Pilot and i-Pilot Link replacement components for customers who want to repair an existing system rather than upgrade it.
